ASCC Research Services has developed a range of products and services that are available to stem cell researchers.
Human Embryonic Stem Cell Lines
MEL-1 and
MEL-2 human embryonic stem (hES) cell lines were established and cultured on MEFs (mouse embryonic fibroblasts) in serum containing medium. These lines have been fully characterized by teratoma and marker expression analysis at early and late passages. They have been frozen using the vitrification method in open pulled straws to allow for optimum viability upon thawing. Very early passages (P12>) are available. Customers located outside Australia can obtain these hES cell lines from
Millipore Corporation (Catalogue numbers SCC020 & SCC021).
MEL-3 and
MEL-4 hES cell lines were established on human feeders in serum free medium. These lines have been fully characterized at early and late passages. They have been frozen using the vitrification method in open pulled straws to allow for optimum viability upon thawing. Very early passages (P12>) are available.
Stem Cell Kits
ASCC scientists have developed refined conditions for the isolation and identification of stem cell populations. This expertise has been used to develop the Bone Marrow Harvesting & Haematopoietic Stem Cell Isolation kit (SCR051) which enables the improved isolation of mouse primitive haematopoietic stem cells. This kit is available for purchase from
Millipore Corporation.

Stem Cell Specific Antibodies
1H3 (hPlurES-1 Antibody clone 1H3)
The novel hPlurES-1 monoclonal antibody has been shown to identify a 65 kDa antigen that is expressed on the cell surface of human embryonic stem cells. This antibody recognizes a protein epitope that appears to be expressed within a subset of Oct-4-positive human embryonic stem cell populations, as indicated by double-staining analysis using flow cytometry and immunocytochemistry. This monoclonal antibody can be purchased from
Millipore Corporation (Catalogue number MAB4395).
TG30
The novel TG30 antibody, which has been shown to be a reliable cell surface marker for the detection and characterization of pluripotent human embryonic stem cells (Adewumi et al., 2007), recognizes a cell surface epitope of a tetraspannin protein that has been further identified as CD9. When this antibody is used in conjunction with the TG343 antibody, TG30 has been successfully shown through flow cytometric assays to be a robust and rapid tool for the purification and selection of live Oct-4-positive human embryonic stem cells from a mixed population of differentiated cell types. This monoclonal antibody can be purchased from
Millipore Corporation (Catalogue number MAB4427)
TG343
The novel TG343 antibody, which has been shown to be a reliable cell surface marker for the detection and characterization of pluripotent human embryonic stem cells (Adewumi et al., 2007), reacts with a distinct epitope on the protein core of a high molecular weight pericellular matrix proteoglycan (Cooper et al., 2002). When this antibody is used in conjunction with the TG30 antibody, TG343 has been successfully shown through flow cytometric assays to be a robust and rapid tool for the purification and selection of live Oct-4-positive human embryonic stem cells from a mixed population of differentiated cell types. This monoclonal antibody can be purchased from
Millipore Corporation (Catalogue number MAB4346)
