The 11th annual Science meets Parliament, organised by the Federation of Australian Scientific and Technological Societies [FASTS], began today.
It brings 160 scientists to Canberra for meetings with MPs from both houses.
ASCC funded CSIRO researcher Associate Professor
Susie Nilsson, a leading expert in haematopoietic (blood forming) stem cells, is one of the invited participants from all scientific disciplines.
Associate Professor Nilsson joined CSIRO Molecular and Health Technologies in 2009, but her team and her remain based in the ASCC laboratories at Monash University. Prior to this, Associate Professor Nilsson was the head of the Niche Laboratory at the Australian Stem Cell Centre having moved from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre at the end of 2005, where she was head of the Microenvironment Laboratory within the Stem Cell Program.
