As of 1 July 2011 the ASCC is closed. Please note that while the Teachers Kit was updated recently, this website is for information purposes only and is no longer being updated.

Education is a fundamental component of the work of the ASCC. The Centre receives a significant amount of enquiries from students and teachers seeking information from the basics of stem cell biology to legislation and ethics.

The Centre’s communications objective is to enhance public understanding of stem cells and their potential. To achieve this the ASCC has a range of projects and tools available:

Stem Cell Teachers' Kit
The ASCC launched a FREE Teachers Stem Cell Resources Kit in August 2010. It contains classroom activities, handouts, stem cell basics and a curriculum guide.

The Stem Cell Channel
The Stem Cell Channel is an interactive website featuring mini-documentaries and interviews with industry experts. Topics include: what are stem cells, the scientists, patients discuss stem cells, legislation and therapeutic cloning.

Back to Schools Program
In 2010 the ASCC continued with its highly successful Back to Schools program for a second year. During National Science Week in August, the ASCC sent Victorian stem cell scientists to schools around Victoria to help students understand more about stem cell research.

BioEYES Program
BioEYES is an innovative, hands on approach to teaching school aged children about developmental biology, stem cells and regeneration through the use of zebrafish.

Fact Sheets
The ASCC produces a range of Fact Sheets to download.
